The And Then Initiative, Inc., is a community-based non-profit organization who's goal is to support and promote activities directed at furthering the well-being, positive image, and human rights of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community, its allies, and low to moderate income residents in Mohave County.

The And Then Initiative, Inc., came into existence following the success of the 2019 Mohave Pride event. The individuals who organized pride where so overwhelmed by the local support for the event that they felt more needed to be done for Mohave county's growing LGBTQ+ population.

The And Then Initiative, Inc., is a community-based non-profit organization whose goal is to support and promote activities directed at furthering the well-being, positive image, and human rights of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community, its allies, and low to moderate income residents in Mohave County.  

In small towns and rural areas the LGBTQ+ community is poorly represented even though the population density is usually equal to larger cities.
 

Following the overwhelming success of our Inaugural Pride event in 2019 we identified a need for more activities, services and venues to better serve our growing LGBTQ community.

Many individuals came up to us during the event and shared their stories of how they contemplated suicide because they thought they were alone, others talked about wanting to moving away from the community they loved because they felt so isolated and under represented, and still others talked about how they turned to drugs because of the abuse they dealt with at home as a result of their sexual orientation or gender identity. The other crucial thing they ALL mentioned is how important this event was for them, how they felt so overwhelmingly loved and accepted and how they never imagined there could be such a massive community right under their noses.

It is for that reason we formed our non-profit. We have many events planned throughout the year now and a strong community to support them. With the money raised by these events we plan to develop scholarship, grant and nutrition assistance programs as well as a health and mental health resource directory.

This gofundme campaign will be used to purchase a space, a center where members of the community can come relax, network, job search, take part in free seminars and classes, and find the resources they need to live their best life.
